Spring Restart: Get your Heat Pump ready for swim season!Updated 9 days ago

We put this guide together to help you know when it’s time to start getting the pool ready, and how to get your FibroPool heat pump back in action after winter.

When is it safe to start using your heat pump again after the winter? Look for temperatures to climb above 55°F, at that point you can begin to reverse the winterization prep to start heating your pool again. Proceed carefully to avoid any startup issues. This process can take about 30 min, but don’t rush, a strong start sets you up for a good season.

  1. Inspect for Damage: Remove cover; check for any cracks, rodent chews, or corrosion on the fins/wires/pipes. Clean away any debris.

  2. Reconnect Plumbing: Remove the plugs from your inlet and outlet ports, and reconnect the inlet (bottom) and outlet (top). Use new teflon tape on any threads. Tighten unions hand-tight + 1/4 turn (to tight could lead to damage).

  3. Prime the SystemFill the lines/exchanger with water; bleed air by opening the valves slowly. Run your pool pump on recirculate for 5-10 min to clear any air bubbles.

  4. Check Flow & Bypass: Verify water flow direction (IN bottom), adjust bypass for 23-33 GPM. Check for leaks, if found, fix before turning the power on.

  5. Power On & Test: Turn on breaker then turn on the heat pump, then wait 30 seconds for water flow. Start the heat pump and check for any error codes. The pressure gauge should rise, and cold air/condensation should start after 5-15 min.

  6. Set & Monitor: Set the desired temp, and run for 24 hours initially. If EE03/PL, recheck flow/plumbing.

Contact support or hire a professional if damage or errors persist.
